Congratulations to our 2021-2022 faculty award recipients, who were honored during an awards ceremony at Old Capitol on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022.

Greg Howes, professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, has been honored by the American Physical Society with an award for his contributions to plasma physics.

The award recognizes current members of the Rhetoric and Communication Division of the association who have established a robust research project within eight years of receiving a PhD and who has the potential to contribute significantly to the field of rhetorical or communication theory.

Benjamin Coelho, Professor, School of Music, and Elizabeth Heineman, Professor, Department of History, are the 2022-2023 CLAS Collegiate Fellows. DEOs are invited to nominate faculty who have made exceptional contributions in teaching, scholarly and creative work, and leadership in service to the university, college, and department.

As part of the committee, Associate Professor Allison Jaynes will help set NASA's priorities in solar and space physics for the next ten years and beyond. The invitation to serve indicates her high stature in the field.

The University of Iowa is pleased to announce that Betsy Stone, a professor in chemistry and chemical and biochemical engineering, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to Australia for the 2022-2023 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
